Materials

  • 4 mm hook

  • 50g DK yarn in blue

  • 200g DK yarn in light blue

  • I used Ice Yarns Baby Summer

  • Yarn needle

  • Stitch markers

  • Scissors

  • Chain (ch)

  • Slip stitch (sl st)

  • Single crochet (sc)

  • Single crochet increase (inc)

  • Single crochet decrease (dec)

  • Half double crochet (hdc)

  • Front/back post double crochet (fpdc/bpdc)

Pattern notes

Project is worked in rows.

Fits most adults.


Gauge: 20 rows of sc = 10cm, 10 sts = 5 cm

Instructions


Ch 34, join to form a loop.

Row 1: ch 1, hdc along. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (33)

Row 2: (fpdc, bpdc) around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (33)

Rows 3-5: bpdc in each fpdc of the previous row, and vice versa. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (33)

Row 6: sc around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (33)

Row 7: 15 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 14 sc. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (35)

Row 8: sc around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (35)

Row 9: 16 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 15 sc. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (37)

Row 10: sc around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (37)

Row 11: 17 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 16 sc. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (39)

Row 12: sc around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (39)

Row 13: 18 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 17 sc. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (41)

Row 14: sc around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (41)

Row 15: 19 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 18 sc. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (43)




Row 16: sc around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (43)

Row 17: 20 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 19 sc. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (45)

Row 18: sc around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (45)

Row 19: 21 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 20 sc. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (47)

Row 20: 17 sc, skip 14 sts, 16 sc. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (33)


For LEFT hand:

Row 21: mark stitches #2 and #16

For RIGHT hand:

Row 21: mark stitches #17 and #32


You will work your design between these two markers, moving them up each row.


Rows 21-36: sc around, working the design between the markers. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (33)

Row 37: (9 sc, dec) around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (30)

Row 38: sc around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (30)

Row 39: (3 sc, dec) around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (24)

Row 40: sc around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (24)

Row 41: dec around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (12)

Row 42: (sc, dec) around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. Ch 1, turn. (8)

Finish off, leaving long tail for sewing the end closed.

Finish off, leaving a long tail for sewing the end closed.
