Mittens


Cuff

With 5 mm hook, in base colour

Ch 10

Row 1: In 2nd ch from hook sc, sc along, ch 1 turn (9)

Rows 2-25: sc in BLO along, ch 1, turn (9)

Sl st each st in last row with corresponding st in first row to create a cylinder, ch 1 and switch to 5.5 mm hook.

Hand

Row 1: Working along the edge of the cuff, sc 26 around evenly. Join to first st with a sl st, ch 1 turn (26)

Row 2: 11 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 11 sc. Join to first stitch with a sl st. Ch 1, turn. (28)

Rows 3-4: sc along. Join to first stitch with a sl st. Ch 1, turn. (28)

Row 5: 12 sc, inc, 2 sc, inc, 12 sc. Join to first stitch with a sl st. Ch 1, turn. (30)

Row 1: Join yarn at first skipped st of row 13, sc 12 and sc into the 2 chains of row 14 of the hand, join to first st with sl st (14)

Row 2: sc, dec, sc around. Join to first stitch with a sl st. Ch 1, turn. (13)

Row 3: sc around, dec. Join to first stitch with a sl st. Ch 1, turn. (12)

Rows 4-7: sc around. Join to first stitch with a sl st. Ch 1, turn. (12)

Hat

With 5.5 mm hook, in base colour.

Ch 40+1

Row 1: sc along, ch 1, turn (40)

Row 2: 20 sc in BLO, 20 sc, ch 1, turn (40)

Row 3: 20 sc, 20 sc in BLO, ch 1 turn (40)

Repeat rows 2-3 until you have a total of 87 rows or the piece is long enough to fit around your head.

Fold in half, and sl st the last row to the corresponding st in the first row to form a cylinder.

Finish off, sew top closed.

Strawberry

Make one for each mitten, one for the hat.

With 4 mm hook.


In red, worked in the round:

Round 1: 12 dc in MR, join with a slst (12) *I added a bead on every 4th st

Round 2: (continuing in the round) 3 dc in next st, 2 hdc, 2 sc, 3 sc in next st, 2 sc, 2 hdc, 3dc in next st, join to first st of round 1 with slst (17) *I added a bead on st #3 and st #15

Round 3: (continuing in the round) 2 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 5 sc, 3 sc in next st, 5 sc, 2 sc in each of the next 3 sts, join to first st with slst (25)

FO with a long tail for sewing.


In green:

Join yarn at stitch #22 of the last round of the strawberry, ch 1.

sl st in next 3 sts, ch 4, starting in the second chain from the hook, sl st in each chain, then sl st to the strawberry again.

sl st into the first 3 sts of the last round of the strawberry. FO.


Pin the strawberries into place one on each glove, one in the front centre of the beanie - and sew into place.
