Princess Anna's ballgown

A labour of love that took over 18 months to complete. I wanted a technical challenge, to push the limits of crochet - and I am also a huge Frozen fan. I took crochet to the next level by making a complete ballgown, as well as a necklace.

The embroidery on the skirt is cross-stitched on crochet, which means the entire skirt is made with single crochet (so that the spacing would be regular).

The bodice decoration is made with appliqué crochet as well as crochet embroidery. A gold ribbon is woven around the waist as reinforcement as the dress is very heavy - it contains around 5 kg of yarn.
